Welcome to the new website!

Welcome to the new website!

After almost a month after the first announcement,
and after not just one, but two interim announcements, the new website has gone live!
Thanks for waiting.  I hope you find this format easier to use than the old
format.

What’s new?

The biggest new thing, and one which I hope everyone will make use of, is
the Reader Forum.  That’s your place to make comments, ask
others for help, and generally do as you wish.  Within reason.

The other major
change is the layout.  The Diary is no longer tucked away in a corner of a website.
It now owns this site.  That means the /freebsd/ directory is
gone and all the articles are now in the root directory.  I’ve also created a samples directory which contains all of the example code supplied with
the various articles.

During the construction of the new site, I’ve been writing articles but not publishing
them on the old site.  I deemed it too much work to keep the sites in sync.
That means there are 25 new articles which you haven’t seen yet.  Most of them deal
with the tasks involved in making the new site.  Of note are the articles on:

A new section in the topics has also been added: About this
site

Help wanted.  Apply within.

I need your help.  With the new website, many things have been moved
around and changed.  I think I’ve catered for most things.  But if you find a
problem, please let
me know
about it.
